02 / OUR THEORY
Most of your life runs on autopilot. That's not a flaw; it's how brains work. But somewhere in your day there's a moment that keeps deciding itself.
This is an app for about ten seconds of your day — the ten seconds between the cue and the act, where the decision can be conscious instead of automatic. The research shorthand: habits run on the brain's autopilot circuitry, and once a routine is automatic, the deliberate part of your brain stops getting a vote. An interrupt at the cue puts it back in the room.
The interrupt is only half the mechanism. Ten conscious seconds are worth nothing if there's nothing on the other side of the scale. That's the video. Not motivation — evidence. Your own reasons, your own face, recorded when your head was clear. In the moment, it was never going to be you against the habit — willpower loses that one on schedule. It's your why against the habit. That's the reframe. We just make sure your why shows up.
Whatever you choose in those ten seconds, you chose it. Both buttons work. The app keeps score honestly — your why's wins, your calls, no-answers. No streaks. No shame mechanics.
It's a tool. Use it or don't.
